Lot 733: 19th Century Composition Relief Plaque Depicting the Battle of Ravenna 1512
A 19th-century low-relief plaque cast in a fine composition material, potentially a plaster or alabaster composite, depicting a scene from the Battle of Ravenna in 1512. The military composition shows an intensive engagement with pikemen, a mounted officer, and a heavy field cannon in the foreground. The relief is presented in a period ebonised and parcel-gilt frame decorated with a broad band of scrolling foliate and floral motifs in gold. An incised inscription is located at the lower right of the panel.
Inscribed lower right: Battle of Ravenna / The Attack 1512. A small, illegible mark is present above the first line of the inscription.
