Lot 747: A Collection of Wood and Sons Hand Painted Earthenware Tea and Dinnerware
An extensive partial tea and dinner service manufactured from earthenware by Wood and Sons of Burslem, Staffordshire. The set features a vibrant hand painted floral pattern consisting of large pinkish red blooms, green foliage, small blue florets, and yellow accents. Each piece is finished with a blue dashed line around the scalloped rims. The service comprises approximately 3 large plates, 2 medium plates, 9 teacups, and approximately 18 saucers and side plates of varying sizes. The bases of the pieces bear impressed marks, with one cup base clearly impressed with the letters WOODS in an upper arc and ENGLAND in a lower arc. A hand painted mark in red pigment, appearing as the numeral 1, is also present on the underside of one cup.
