Lot 857: French Provincial Style Distressed Painted Console Table with Lime-Washed Top
A French Provincial style console or hall table featuring a D-shaped top with a straight back edge designed for placement against a wall. The top is constructed from a light-toned wood, likely oak or ash, displaying a visible grain through a white-washed or lime-washed finish. The base is finished in an off-white paint that has been intentionally distressed to provide an aged appearance. The table includes a single central frieze drawer fitted with a simple turned wooden knob. The shaped apron features a carved foliate motif at the centre, and the piece stands on four slender cabriole legs, each embellished with a carved fleur-de-lis style motif at the knee. A small white paper label for HCP Auctions South West (Lot 857) and a handwritten label numbered 13 are affixed to the top. There are no maker’s marks or stamps visible on the exterior or within the drawer.
