Lot 483: Hand Carved Wooden Djembe Style Drum Shell with Dot Painted Decoration
A hand-carved wooden goblet drum, frequently identified as a djembe style instrument. The drum features a hollowed-out wooden shell with a tapered pedestal base. The lower section is decorated with hand-applied dot-painted motifs in a palette of ochre, yellow, white, and black. A rope-tuned tensioning system is present, consisting of dark braided rope interlaced through a metal ring positioned around the waist. The interior of the shell displays visible wood grain and evidence of the hollowing process. Two adhesive labels are present on the exterior: a piece of masking tape bearing the number 46717 and a white rectangular auction sticker for HCP Auctions South West, Lot 483.
