Lot 501: A Group of Chinese Jingdezhen Rice-Grain Dragon Pattern Porcelain Tableware
This group of Chinese Jingdezhen porcelain tableware is decorated in the rice-grain or Linglong technique. The pieces feature underglaze blue decoration with a central five-clawed dragon and flaming pearl motif surrounded by a double-ring border. The bodies of the vessels are pierced with small decorative holes that have been filled with clear glaze to create translucent spots. The rims are finished with geometric fretwork borders and stylised scrolls. The collection includes a pair of large circular covered tureens with domed lids and loop handles, a large open serving bowl, a set of individual bowls, a set of saucers, and a set of ceramic soup spoons. The tureen lids and spoon handles incorporate the rice-grain translucency, and the lids are topped with medallions featuring the Shou symbol for longevity.
