Lot 1001: A Stained Hardwood Discreet Commode Armchair with Tartan Upholstery
A traditional-style commode armchair constructed from stained hardwood with a dark finish. The backrest features a carved cresting rail with a scrolled top over five bobbin-turned spindles. The shaped armrests are supported by turned uprights. The seat consists of a padded, hinged lid upholstered in a green, red, and cream woven tartan fabric. The lid opens to reveal a black plastic interior housing a removable cream-coloured plastic commode pan with a lid. The chair stands on turned front legs and square-section rear legs, all joined by a four-way stretcher. A manufacturer’s safety label on the underside of the lid specifies a maximum user weight of 160 kg (25 stone).
