Lot 531: An Assortment of Late 19th to Early 20th Century British Salt-Glazed Stoneware
A collection of late 19th to early 20th-century salt-glazed stoneware items, characteristic of regional British production such as Derbyshire or Bristol. The assortment includes a large ovoid storage crock with twin lug handles and a lid, featuring a dark brown ferruginous glaze to the upper section and a buff-coloured lower body. Also included are two cylindrical kitchen storage jars with similar brown glazed rims and shoulders, featuring stepped rims for lids which are currently absent. The lot is completed by two cylindrical bed-warmer hot water bottles; one retains its original stoneware screw cap with a knurled edge, while the other has a black composite screw cap. The large ovoid jar bears a printed auction label for HCP Auctions South West, Lot 531. No maker’s marks, stamps, or capacity indicators are visible on any of the items.
