Lot 545: A Majolica Ceramic Fruit Tower Centerpiece
A mid-20th-century decorative majolica ceramic centrepiece fashioned as a stacked fruit tower. The piece is constructed from glazed earthenware, featuring a pyramid arrangement of various fruits including a textured orange, a yellow banana, and several multi-coloured apples or peaches. The decoration is executed with hand-painted polychrome glazes in vivid shades of orange, yellow, red, and green, all finished with a high-gloss glaze. The fruit group is integrated onto a scalloped, flower-form base. The underside of the base is unglazed, revealing a pinkish-buff clay body and a central circular firing hole. No maker’s marks or signatures are present. A small stray green glaze mark is visible on one lobe of the base.
