Lot 548: Tennyson, Alfred Lord. The Poetical Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson. c. 1890. Multi-Volume Miniature Set.
A late Victorian multi-volume miniature set of the poetical works of Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The collection is bound in dark teal publisher’s cloth, featuring gilt-stamped titles and decorative foliate motifs to the spines. The text blocks are finished with gilt edges. The set is housed in its original matching cloth-covered slipcase, which bears the title THE POETICAL WORKS OF ALFRED LORD TENNYSON in gilt on the lid. The volumes cover the author’s major poetic output, including Maud, The Lady of Shalott, Enoch Arden, The Princess, and a six-volume sequence of Idylls of the King. The formatting and binding style are characteristic of gift editions produced during the late 19th century.
