Lot 576: A Collection of Marine Natural History Specimens including a Giant Spider Conch and Queen Conch in a Cobalt Blue Glass Bowl
An assortment of marine natural history specimens presented in a circular cobalt blue pressed glass bowl. The collection is dominated by a large Giant Spider Conch (Lambis truncata) shell, characterised by its heavy form and prominent finger-like projections. Also included is a large Queen Conch (Aliger gigas) shell, alongside a dried starfish (Asteroidea). The group is further composed of various other mollusc shells, including bivalves such as oyster valves and gastropods including whelk-type specimens. The items are displayed within a cobalt blue glass bowl which features a textured exterior and an undulating rim. A paper auction lot tag for HCP Auctions South West, lot 576, is present.
