Lot 702: An Assortment of Vintage Red Fox and Squirrel Fur Pelts and Accessories
This collection of mid-20th-century fur items includes a multi-skin wrap, a black pieced accessory, and unmounted pelts. The multi-skin stole is crafted from reddish-brown fox fur, featuring a traditional head-to-tail construction with multiple skins joined together. These skins retain preserved heads with glass eyes, along with paws and claws. The black accessory is a wrap or capelet constructed from multiple elongated fur tails or thin strips joined in a tiered fashion. The two unmounted brownish-grey pelts feature a salt-and-pepper, speckled appearance consistent with squirrel fur. The construction of the stoles is characteristic of mid-century fashion, utilising glossy guard hairs and dense undercoats. No maker’s labels or retailer marks are visible.
