Lot 709: A Hornby OO Gauge LNER Flying Scotsman Locomotive and Tender with a Collection of Coins in an Old Holborn Tin
A Hornby OO gauge model steam locomotive and matching tender finished in LNER (London and North Eastern Railway) apple green livery. The locomotive is a 4-6-2 Pacific type, numbered 4472, and features Flying Scotsman nameplates on the wheel splashers. The tender side is marked with the letters LNER. Included is a collection of UK pre-decimal and world coins and tokens. Visible numismatic items include a Guernsey bronze 8 doubles dated 1889, UK pennies featuring the obverse portraits of King George V and King George VI, and a halfpenny depicting the Golden Hind ship. The group also contains various other circulated pieces, including a centrally-pierced coin and an issue dated 1943. The items are contained within a rectangular Old Holborn metal tobacco tin, which bears a paper auction label for Lot 709.
