Lot 87: A Pair of Antique Reclaimed Timber and Iron Gaol Doors

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £250

Estimated price: £250 - £500

Buyer's Premium:

A pair of tall, narrow architectural gaol doors constructed from timber with inset iron security bars. Each door is divided into three sections: the upper two sections feature five horizontal iron bars, while the base consists of a solid timber panel decorated with three horizontal moulded lines. The doors retain original heavy-duty iron hardware including strap hinges, a long vertical slide-bolt latch on one panel, and a pull handle on each. The surface displays a heavily distressed finish with multiple layers of peeling paint; a vibrant turquoise top layer is flaking away to reveal an underlying cream paint and weathered raw timber. A white rectangular adhesive label is attached to the lower rail of one door, handwritten in blue ink with 46717 £250 R. A small white paper tag is tied to the hardware of one door, bearing the printed number 121.
