Lot 56: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y-4 Die-Cast Horse Drawn Fire Engine
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y-4 die-cast horse-drawn fire engine, based on a Shand Mason steam engine design. The model features a red-painted carriage chassis supporting a central gold-toned boiler and pump assembly. It is pulled by two white horses with gold-painted harness highlights. The engine is complete with three black-painted crew figures, including a driver and two firemen seated on the rear bench. The side of the carriage is decorated with gold-toned lettering that reads KENT FIRE BRIGADE. The vehicle is fitted with four black-painted spoked metal wheels on freewheeling axles. The construction utilises die-cast metal for the main body and horses, with plastic components for the figures.
