Lot 188: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Die-cast 1930 Mack Truck
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear die-cast model of a 1930 Mack truck in the Goodyear livery. The vehicle features a dark blue die-cast metal chassis supporting a light blue cab and cargo body, both fitted with grey plastic roof sections. The model is detailed with light blue hubs, black plastic tyres, and gold-tone headlights. The sides of the cargo area are decorated with white and dark blue printed text for the Transcontinental Motor Express, featuring the Goodyear winged foot logo and routes between Akron, Boston, and San Francisco via the Lincoln Highway. A small Lincoln Highway shield logo with the letter L is also present, while the cab bonnet displays the number 100. The underside of the dark blue chassis features embossed text within a double-lined rectangular border reading MATCHBOX, followed by MATCHBOX INT’L LTD., MODELS OF YESTERYEAR, and Y-23 1930 MACK TANKER. A country of origin mark reading MADE IN MACAU is also visible on the base. The truck is contained within its original red window box which includes a pictorial cardboard display insert. The exterior clear window bears a circular red and white adhesive price label from Woolworths reading £4.99 and a white rectangular auction label for Lot 188 from HCP Auctions South West.
