Lot 78: A Vintage Mid-20th Century Red Painted Metal Jerry Fuel Can
A vintage mid-20th century red painted metal jerry fuel can of standard 20-litre capacity design, featuring the characteristic pressed X-pattern side reinforcements and a triple handle assembly. The vessel is constructed from welded sheet steel with a cam-locking spout mechanism located on the top shoulder. The exterior displays a heavily weathered red painted finish over significant areas of surface oxidation and corrosion. A white rectangular adhesive label on the upper body reads ‘HCP Auctions South West’, ‘lot 078’, and ‘www.hcpauctions.net’. There are faint embossed characters present on the top panel near the handle and spout, though these are heavily obscured by rust and are not legible as a specific manufacturer’s name or date.
