Lot 189: A Vintage Steel and Bamboo Folding Workbench / Bench Vice
A vintage steel and bamboo folding workbench / bench vice, of a portable design suitable for domestic workshop use. The unit features a black-painted square-section steel frame with a scissor-folding mechanism and a two-piece laminated bamboo work surface. The wooden planks are operated by dual plastic crank handles, allowing the surfaces to act as a wide-capacity vice. The leading edge of the front plank is printed with both metric and imperial scales, including a centrally located semi-circular protractor graduated from 0 to 90 degrees. Four black plastic clamping dogs are included for insertion into the series of pre-drilled holes on the bench top. The upper surface carries a white adhesive label reading 5766 and a printed auction sticker from HCP Auctions South West identifying the piece as Lot 189. No manufacturer mark or maker name is legible on the item.
