Lot 274: An Antique Cast Iron Potbelly Stove
An antique cast iron potbelly stove, featuring a vertically ribbed cylindrical firebox supported by a shaped base plate and raised on three cabriole legs. The top plate is configured with two distinct apertures: a large circular opening intended for fuel loading or cooking vessels, and a smaller, raised cylindrical flue collar to the rear. A side-loading door is present, fitted with a circular, multi-holed rotating draught control wheel to regulate airflow. A white adhesive auction label is affixed to the top surface reading HCP Auctions South West, Lot 274, and www.hcpauctions.net. No manufacturer names, model numbers, or foundry marks are clearly legible on the cast iron body. The stove is constructed from heavy-gauge cast iron components, now showing a significantly oxidised and textured surface.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
