Lot 347: A Vintage Slazenger Maroon Canvas and Leather Sports Bag and Badminton Equipment
A vintage Slazenger maroon canvas and leather sports bag containing an assortment of badminton equipment. The bag is constructed from heavy-duty maroon canvas with cream piping and features three brown leather closure straps with metal pin buckles. It is fitted with a central leather carry handle and opens to reveal a black and white houndstooth patterned fabric lining. The tip of the central exterior leather strap is embossed with the name SLAZENGER enclosed within a horizontal oval border. An interior flap bears a white adhesive lot sticker printed with the number 347. The bag contains a collection of vintage badminton gear, including a wooden racket with a green-painted throat marked SILVER GREY and GRADIDGE below a small crest. Also included are two additional rackets, one with a metal shaft, and two wooden racket presses. One press is stamped with the Dunlop brand name, while the other features the name PAMELA McCLENNAN handwritten in black ink. The set is accompanied by a shuttlecock and a metal tightening tool.
