Lot 532: Two Vintage BHS and French Ceramic Serving and Storage Items
Two vintage BHS and French ceramic serving and storage items, comprising a cylindrical biscuit barrel and a rectangular porcelain platter. The earthenware biscuit jar features a slightly flared base and a matching domed lid with a circular knob finial. It is decorated with a vertical transfer-printed floral spray in shades of purple, blue, and pink, adjacent to the word Biscuits printed in a blue serif font. The base of the jar bears a blue circular printed backstamp reading BHS Priory Tableware, FREEZER PROOF MICROWAVE AND OVEN SAFE, and Made in Britain. The rectangular porcelain serving platter features a scalloped rim with ornate gilt filigree and scrollwork borders. The centre depicts a Fête Galante style garden scene with figures in 18th-century dress, signed Watteau in the lower corner of the vignette. The base of the platter is marked with a gilt printed three-line stamp reading VÉRITABLE PORCELAINE FRANCE.
