Lot 1008: A Mid-20th Century Jacobean Revival Oak Sideboard / Server
A mid-20th century Jacobean Revival oak sideboard / server of substantial construction. The piece features a rectangular top with a moulded edge, positioned above a central column of three drawers flanked by two single-door cupboards. The drawer fronts are decorated with carved scrollwork motifs, while the cupboard doors feature inset horizontal tiered panelling in the Jacobean fashion. The unit is supported by a plinth base with bracket-style feet to the front corners and is fitted with turned wooden knobs throughout. Internally, the uppermost drawer is fitted with a green baize cutlery liner divided into three compartments. The bottom drawer retains a partial patterned paper lining and bears a small square adhesive label to the side (photo 2), though the printed text and graphics on the label are not legible as a maker’s name.

Condition report:
The sideboard is in used condition with significant surface wear. There is extensive surface scratching, scuffing, and loss of finish to the exterior panels and edges (photo 1, 3). The finish shows heavy wear where the underlying lighter oak is exposed, particularly along the top and side edges (photo 3). The interior linings are worn, stained, and dusty (photo 2). The cupboard doors are currently secured together with twine (photo 1). The item requires thorough cleaning and full restoration of the finish.
