Lot 570: A Vintage Lilliput Lane Hand-painted Composite Model in the Crab Apple Cottage Pattern
A vintage Lilliput Lane hand-painted composite model in the Crab Apple Cottage pattern, produced in the late 20th century. This architectural miniature depicts a traditional English dwelling from South Somerset, featuring a primary thatched roof alongside a secondary lean-to extension with a red-tiled roof. The model is constructed from a hand-painted gypsum-based composite material, meticulously detailed with garden elements including climbing blue wisteria, flowering pink rose bushes, and various shrubbery textures. A stone-paved pathway is moulded into the ground level. The underside is finished with a green felt covering and bears a white rectangular adhesive label printed in blue text reading Lilliput Lane, CRAB APPLE COTTAGE, South Somerset, The British Collection, Handmade in England, and © 1987 David Tate. The item is accompanied by its original orange branded cardboard box, which features a printed illustration of a larger manor house and carries a secondary white auction label marked Lot 570 with handwritten inventory numbers 1249 and a price of £28.
