Lot 581: A Set of Vintage Etched and Gilt Clear Glass Liqueur / Cordial Glasses
A set of vintage etched and gilt clear glass liqueur / cordial glasses, dating from the mid-20th century. Each glass features a cylindrical bowl with a rounded base, supported by a short plain stem and a circular foot. The bowls are decorated with acid-etched frosted panels containing stylised foliate and wheat-ear motifs. A decorative gold-gilt band with an interlocking guilloche or chain-link pattern encircles the base of each bowl, and the upper rims are finished with a matching gold-gilt trim. The glass remains clear without evidence of sickness or clouding. No maker’s marks, signatures, or acid-etched stamps are visible on the underside of the feet or the bodies of the vessels.
Condition report:
The glasses are in good vintage condition. There is visible rubbing and thinning to the gold-gilt finish, most notably on the top rims (photo 1 and 2). The acid-etched decoration remains crisp and well-defined across the set. No chips, cracks, or significant surface scratches are evident in the provided photographs.
