Lot 609: A Vintage Linda Browne Hand-painted Studio Pottery Flared Bowl
A vintage Linda Browne hand-painted studio pottery flared bowl, constructed from a white-bodied earthenware with a glazed finish. The vessel features a conical form with a broad rim tapering to a narrow, unglazed foot ring. The piece is decorated both internally and externally in an expressive abstract style, featuring bold, swirling strokes of red, orange, yellow, and purple, punctuated by dark blue accents. The vibrant palette is applied with broad brushwork that creates a sense of movement across the surface. The rim is finished with a thick band of cobalt blue glaze, providing a defined border to the multi-coloured interior. The base bears a hand-painted signature in blue script which reads ‘Linda Browne’.
Condition report:
The bowl appears to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration (photos 1 and 2). There is minor surface soiling and shelf wear consistent with age to the unglazed foot ring (photo 2).
