Lot 624: A Collection of Vintage Coloured Art Glass Paperweights and Decorative Tableware
A collection of vintage coloured art glass paperweights and decorative tableware, displaying various glassworking techniques from the mid-to-late 20th century. The group includes a tall, slender vase in deep ruby red glass featuring a flared rim and a heavy clear glass base in the sommerso fashion. Two paperweights are present, one a clear sphere containing a symmetric pattern of controlled air bubbles and the other a heart-shaped weight with an encased pink lampwork rose surrounded by etched white concentric rings. The collection is further composed of a faceted clear glass pineapple figurine, two peach-coloured bowls moulded into opening flower blossoms, and a deep amethyst glass bowl with a rustic, wavy rim. A white adhesive label from Auctions South West, bearing a barcode and the number 633, is affixed to the amethyst bowl. No further legible marks, etched maker’s signatures, or manufacturer stamps are visible on any of the items.
Condition report:
The collection appears in good decorative condition. Minor surface scratching and light wear consistent with display are present on the contact points of the bases. Potential small flea bites are noted to the rim of the ruby vase and the edges of the heart-shaped paperweight, though no large chips or structural cracks are evident in the provided photographs (photos 1-3).
