Lot 659: A Vintage OO Gauge Princess Royal Class 6203 Locomotive and Tender
A vintage OO gauge model locomotive and matching tender, representing the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Princess Royal Class 4-6-2 locomotive ‘Princess Margaret Rose’. The model features a moulded maroon plastic body shell mounted onto a die-cast metal chassis with a six-coupled wheel arrangement. The locomotive is equipped with metal driving wheels and a detailed metal valve gear mechanism. The cab side is printed with the identification number ‘6203’ in a gold-toned finish, while a curved nameplate positioned above the driving wheels bears the raised inscription ‘PRINCESS MARGARET ROSE’. The matching six-wheeled tender is of similar moulded plastic construction, featuring faded ‘L M S’ lettering to both sides. The unit is completed by a leading four-wheel bogie and a trailing two-wheel truck.
Condition report:
Paint chips and significant play wear are evident across the boiler, cab roof, and tender edges (photo 1). The \'L M S\' lettering on the tender shows significant fading and loss (photo 1). Surface oxidation and dirt accumulation are visible on the metal driving wheels and valve gear (photo 2). The locomotive nameplates and cab numbers remain legible despite some surface wear (photo 2). The model is in unserviced, untested condition.
