Lot 1121: An Antique George III Oak Slant-Front Bureau
An antique George III oak slant-front bureau, the sloped fall-front opening on two manual pull-out lopers to reveal a fitted interior. This interior section contains a series of pigeonholes and small drawers arranged around a central open compartment. The carcase is fitted with four long, graduated drawers below the desk section, each featuring brass batwing-shaped escutcheons and matching swing bale handles. The bureau is constructed from solid oak and is raised on traditional shaped bracket feet. Two white adhesive auction labels printed with the number 1121 are present, one on the top-left corner of the fall-front and another within the interior.

Condition report:
The fall-front exhibits several prominent vertical shrinkage splits (photo 1). There is general surface wear, minor losses to the timber, and staining consistent with age and use across the exterior (photo 1). The interior shows some heavy wear to the base of the compartments and signs of old repair (photo 2). The brass hardware shows oxidation and some loose elements (photo 1).
