Lot 682: A Collection of Vintage Costume Jewellery Brooches and Pins
A collection of vintage costume jewellery brooches and pins of varied decorative styles. The assortment includes a classic oval cameo brooch featuring a female profile in relief against a reddish-brown ground, set within a yellow gold-toned frame with a twisted rope-work border, which bears a small paper tag reading £2.00. A figurative musical note brooch is fashioned from silver-toned metal and pavé-set with clear faceted rhinestones, finished with two black circular cabochon terminals. A commemorative heraldic badge features a red and silver enamelled shield with a blue banner at the base reading FLEMING PARK B.C. in white capitalised letters. The collection further includes a silver-toned floral sprig brooch set with marcasite-style stones, a yellow gold-toned textured feather brooch with a matte finish, and a domed circular brooch set in a sunburst pattern with white faux pearls, clear rhinestones, and ruby-coloured faceted stones. A silver-toned safety-pin brooch carries five suspended charms including a blue cabochon, a faceted blue bead, a flower, and a four-leaf clover. Also present is a decorative yellow gold-toned ring with a pierced butterfly motif. Several items are marked with white adhesive labels from HCP Auctions South West reading Lot 682 and Lot 684.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall good vintage condition. The stones in the musical note brooch and the marcasite-style floral brooch appear to be complete and securely set (photo 1 and photo 2). The enamel on the Fleming Park B.C. pin is intact with no visible losses or cracks (photo 3). The cameo brooch shows no chips to the relief carving (photo 1). Minor surface wear and light oxidation consistent with age are present across the metal components of all pieces. Pin mechanisms were not tested but appear present and functional.
