Lot 1151: A Large Vintage Mahogany-Finished Wood and Gilt Wall Mirror
A large vintage mahogany-finished wood and gilt wall mirror, designed in a traditional landscape orientation. The frame is constructed with a multi-tiered moulded profile finished in a dark-stained wood, likely mahogany or a similar hardwood. A narrow, inset gilt-painted inner slip or fillet provides a decorative border immediately surrounding the rectangular mirror plate. The mirror is currently secured with a layer of protective bubble wrap across the glass surface. A white adhesive auction label is present on the upper left-hand side of the frame, printed with HCP Auctions South West and Lot 1151 in black text. No other maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the front or sides of the frame.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The wooden frame is in good condition with minor surface scuffs and some dust accumulation consistent with age and handling (photo 1). There is typical slight separation at the mitred corners of the inner gilt slip (photo 2). The mirror plate is obscured by bubble wrap; while it appears intact through the packaging without large cracks, the surface condition and silvering cannot be fully verified (photo 1).
