Lot 1159: A Vintage Leonard Pearman Tiger Print on Board
A vintage Leonard Pearman tiger print on board, presented in a monochromatic blue and teal colourway. The composition depicts a large tiger moving forward through a dense thicket of reeds and grasses, after an original work by the British wildlife artist. The image is printed onto a board with a deliberately embossed texture designed to simulate the weave of an artist’s canvas. The work is housed in a cream-painted wooden frame featuring a gilt-effect inner slip and a brown hardboard backing to the verso. The lower right corner of the print is signed Leonard Pearman. Two adhesive auction labels are present on the upper frame edge, comprising a white lot sticker reading 1159 and another printed with 46737.
Condition report:
The printed surface appears generally sound with no visible loss or abrasions to the image area (photo 1). The overall blue and teal hue suggests significant uniform fading from the original full-colour state due to prolonged light exposure (photo 2). The cream-painted frame shows minor scuffs and wear consistent with age, particularly at the corner joints (photo 1). The hardboard backing on the verso has a small circular puncture or indentation in the upper left quadrant (photo 4).
