Lot 1162: Mid-Century Teak Shelving / Storage Wall Unit
A Mid-Century teak shelving / storage wall unit, designed in a minimalist modernist style. The piece is constructed from teak-veneered panels and is divided into two primary vertical sections. The left-hand section comprises a multi-compartment shelving system with three vertical uprights and a central horizontal divider, creating eight open bays of varying widths. The right-hand section features a four-door storage cupboard, arranged with two upper and two lower doors. Each door is fitted with a distinctive inset, organic-shaped carved wooden pull handle. A pre-drilled circular aperture is present in the back panel of the shelving section, through which an integrated electrical power cord exits. No maker’s marks, manufacturer labels, or stamps are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces of the unit.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The unit shows general surface wear consistent with age and use, including light scuffs and scratches to the teak veneer throughout (photo 1). There is significant finish loss, moisture marking, and staining visible on several of the interior shelf surfaces (photos 2 and 4). Traces of adhesive residue from old labels are present on some shelf edges (photo 2). The carved wooden handles appear in good condition with only minor edge wear (photo 3). An electrical cord is included; however, the wiring has not been tested for safety or functionality and should be inspected by a professional before use.
