Lot 1165: A Vintage Ornate Gilt Framed Wall Mirror
A vintage ornate gilt framed wall mirror of substantial proportions. The frame is constructed with a wide profile featuring deep-moulded ornamentation, incorporating scrolling foliate motifs, floral elements, and decorative shells at the corners. A fine beaded border runs along the inner edge of the frame. The surface is finished in a burnished gold / gilt tone with a darkened patination in the recesses to accentuate the detail. The rectangular mirror plate is set within the frame. A white rectangular adhesive label is attached to the upper left corner of the glass, reading ‘HCP Auctions South West’, ‘Lot 1165’, and ‘www.hcpauctions.net’. A small circular pink adhesive sticker is affixed to the lower right corner of the frame, but no text or characters are legible on it.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The mirror plate appears to be in good condition, showing no signs of foxing or silvering degradation (photo 1). There are surface smudges and dust present which require cleaning. The moulded frame is in good condition, with no evidence of major losses or cracks to the ornamentation (photo 1, 2). The gilt finish exhibits minor wear consistent with age and handling.
