Lot 824: A Pair of Vintage White-Painted Wood and Wicker Four-Drawer Storage Units
A pair of vintage white-painted wood and wicker four-drawer storage units. Each unit is constructed with a minimalist white-painted wooden frame featuring four open tiers arranged vertically. Within each tier sits a removable drawer fashioned from woven natural seagrass or wicker fibres. The baskets are fitted with removable cream-coloured fabric liners, secured by decorative tie-front fastenings at the handle apertures. The frames exhibit a square-profile construction with flat top surfaces and straight legs. No maker’s marks, stamps, or manufacturer labels are visible; however, a small white adhesive auction lot sticker printed 824 is present on the side of one frame. One basket drawer features an additional non-original dark green webbing strap attached near the handle opening.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
Both units show signs of regular domestic use. The white-painted wooden frames exhibit visible scuffing, scratching, and areas of minor paint loss, particularly along the leading edges and corners (photo 1). The cream fabric liners appear generally intact but show light soiling and dust accumulation consistent with use. The woven seagrass baskets remain structurally sound with only minor fraying to the natural fibres. One unit\'s basket has a non-original green strap modification (photo 2).
