Lot 828: A Collection of Vintage Vinyl 7-Inch Singles
A collection of vintage vinyl 7-inch singles dating primarily from the 1970s and 1980s, comprising approximately 400 to 600 records. The collection covers various genres including pop, rock, disco, and soul, predominantly featuring UK pressings. Visible artists include the Bee Gees on the RSO label, specifically the singles Love So Right / You Stepped Into My Life (catalogue number 2090 206) and Living Eyes / I Still Love You (catalogue number RSO 81). The records are housed in a mixture of generic paper and card outer sleeves, many of which are heavily annotated with blue and black ink handwriting indicating artist names and filing codes such as ‘B’ and ‘D’. The orange RSO labels and silver-grey RSO labels are clearly legible, with printed text including ‘Made in England’ and ’45 RPM’. The lot is presented in a large green plastic transport crate and additional stacks. A small white adhesive lot sticker reading ‘0597’ is attached to the front edge of one sleeve.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall used condition, suitable as play copies. The vinyl discs generally appear in Good (G) to Very Good (VG) condition, showing visible surface dust and light surface scratches consistent with frequent handling (photo 2). The paper and card sleeves are in Poor to Fair condition, displaying extensive handwritten annotations in ink and marker, significant edge fraying, tearing, and creasing (photo 2). Notable yellowing and age-related foxing are present across the paper components (photo 1). The outer green plastic crate shows storage-related wear and scuffing.
