Lot 855: A Collection of Vintage Vinyl LPs and 12-inch Singles
A collection of approximately 10 to 15 vintage vinyl LPs and 12-inch singles, dating from the late 1970s and 1980s. The lot includes a mix of pop, disco, and R&B recordings on various labels. A prominent item is the LP Music From Saturday Night Fever played by The Discos, released by Pickwick Records, which features a stylized P logo. Also included is a Janet Jackson 12-inch single for Baby Tell Me Can You Dance / Summer Love on the A&M Records label, bearing the catalogue number AMY 402 and credits for producers Bryan Loren and John McClain. Other visible titles and labels include a sleeve for The Police, a compilation titled Johnny Remember Me, and releases from budget labels Music For Pleasure (mfp) and Telstar. The Saturday Night Fever sleeve bears a pink circular adhesive price sticker reading 1.00, a white rectangular adhesive label with the handwritten number 46510, and a white rectangular auction label reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 855. The Janet Jackson sleeve is yellow with a printed photo of the artist and the A&M logo. The records are housed in their original printed card sleeves.
Condition report:
The collection is in Fair to Good condition across the sleeves and discs. The outer sleeves show significant signs of wear, including pronounced ring wear on both the Saturday Night Fever and Janet Jackson covers (photo 1 and 2). Edges and corners are scuffed with some creasing and laminate lift visible (photo 1). There are several adhesive labels and stickers present on the front of the Saturday Night Fever sleeve (photo 1). The yellow Janet Jackson sleeve shows surface staining and ring wear (photo 2). The vinyl discs have not been removed for inspection; they are assumed to be in a played condition consistent with the wear on the sleeves.
