Lot 880: A Vintage Hand-Carved and Painted Wooden Three-Drawer Novelty Chest / Storage Unit
A vintage hand-carved and painted wooden three-drawer novelty chest / storage unit, featuring a relief carving of a bear character in the folk-art style. The chest is fashioned from a stained softwood with a prominent natural grain, with the figural decoration split across the three drawer fronts. The bear is depicted wearing a blue and black hat with green leaf detail and red suspenders, with arrow fletching visible to the side. The drawers utilise turned wooden knobs that are incorporated into the carved design: a red nose, a green chest button, and a yellow lower button. A white rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the bottom left front reading HCP Auctions South West and Lot 880. Two further white adhesive labels are present on the top and left side, both bearing the handwritten number 1080.

Condition report:
The item is in good used condition with general surface wear. Small areas of paint loss and minor scuffs are present on the raised carved details, particularly the bear\'s hat and nose (photo 1). A small chip is visible to the wood on the bottom right corner of the plinth base (photo 1). Some dust is present within the recesses of the carving.
