Lot 893: A Vintage Black Oak Effect Stepped Nightstand
A vintage black oak effect stepped nightstand of modernist design, featuring three graduated drawer units in an offset, cantilevered configuration. The piece is finished in a black-stained wood veneer with a pronounced oak-like grain, while the drawer interiors are finished in a contrasting light wood-grain veneer. The tiers are supported by rectangular-section chrome-plated metal uprights, providing a floating appearance to the structure. There is a white adhesive inventory label on the top surface and a second label on the left-hand side of the upper drawer unit reading VGH followed by numerals; no permanent maker’s mark is present.

Condition report:
The unit shows visible surface wear consistent with domestic use, including scuffing and dust accumulation on the top and drawer fronts (photo 1). There is minor spotting and light tarnishing visible on the chrome-plated metal supports (photo 1). The light wood interior of the drawers appears in good order (photo 2).
