Lot 959: A Mid-Century Dark-Stained Hardwood Armchair
A mid-century dark-stained hardwood armchair of utilitarian design, featuring a sturdy frame with straight, square-section legs and armrests. The chair is fitted with a padded backrest and seat, upholstered in a green and grey fabric decorated with a repeating stylised wave pattern. This upholstery is secured to the wooden frame using a series of brass-headed upholstery tacks. An adhesive white rectangular auction label is attached to the right armrest, featuring the printed black digits 959 below an illegible line of text; no further manufacturer marks or stamps are visible to the frame.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The dark wood finish shows significant wear and scuffing, particularly along the tops of the armrests and the front rail of the seat frame, where the lighter natural wood is exposed (photo 1). The upholstery appears to be in fair condition with some surface dust and minor wear consistent with use. General light scuffing is present to the lower sections of the legs (photo 1).
