Lot 973: A Collection of Vintage Wicker Picnic and Storage Baskets
A collection of vintage wicker picnic and storage baskets, featuring a traditional rectangular picnic hamper. The hamper is constructed from buff willow with a hinged lid and a brown leather-wrapped top handle, secured by a brown leather strap and buckle alongside a secondary light-coloured canvas strap. The interior contains miscellaneous items including a DVD case and plastic storage containers. The collection further includes a rectangular lidded storage basket of fine-woven straw with decorative pink-stained weavers at the edges and a central woven loop handle. A large oval serving tray consists of a thick, multi-strand braided willow rim and a flat wooden base. Completing the grouping are two shallow oval nested baskets of tightly woven split willow with contrasting light-coloured rims and decorative rectangular woven patterns to the interior bases.
