Lot 143: A Galvanised Steel Hinged-Shank Plough Marine Anchor
A galvanised steel hinged-shank plough marine anchor of heavy-duty construction. The anchor features a characteristic pivoting shank designed to allow the fluke to remain set even as a vessel’s pull direction shifts. The single fluke is pointed and shaped like a plough share to facilitate deep burial in sand or mud. The end of the shank is fitted with a heavily oxidised steel shackle. The surface shows a weathered galvanised finish with widespread surface rust and oxidation. There are no legible manufacturer stamps, weight marks, or patent numbers visible on the shank or fluke.
