Lot 176: A Set of Five Glazed Ceramic Oval Garden Planters
A set of five glazed ceramic oval garden planters, comprising three in a glossy blue glaze and two in a pale sage green finish. Each planter is of an oval trough form with a characteristic stepped and flared rim. The interiors are unglazed, showing a natural terracotta-coloured ceramic body. The largest blue planter is decorated with an embossed circular medallion to one side, depicting a stylised tree or foliate motif. The medallion is impressed into the clay body and finished with the same blue glaze, though the raised portions show some weathering. No maker’s name, brand, or manufacturer’s mark is legible within the decorative device or on any other visible surface of the pots. The planters are of heavy ceramic construction designed for outdoor use.
