Lot 269: A Trio of Black Metal Fireside Accessories
A trio of black metal fireside accessories, comprising a companion set on a stand, a cylindrical coal scuttle, and a wrought metal fuel stand. The companion set features a central stand with a square pedestal base and a cruciform top, which supports four tools including a hearth brush, a shovel, a pair of fire tongs, and a poker. Each tool is constructed with a square-section shaft and a minimalist ring-top handle. The coal scuttle is of tall cylindrical form with an angled pouring opening, fitted with two D-shaped side handles and a single rear handle for two-handed use. The fuel stand is an open-frame log cradle with two large curved supports, standing on four splayed legs with scrolled feet. All pieces are finished in a uniform black paint and fabricated from welded bar stock and rolled sheet metal. No maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps are visible on any of the items.
