Lot 423: A Vintage Schneider MIDI AV 1500 Compact Hi-Fi System and Matching Speakers
A vintage Schneider MIDI AV 1500 compact hi-fi system and a pair of matching bookshelf speakers, dating from the late 20th century. The all-in-one unit is constructed with a black plastic cabinet designed to resemble a series of stacked components. The top section houses a belt-driven turntable with an automatic shut-off function, protected by a hinged lid. Below this is an integrated LW/MW/FM stereo radio tuner featuring a manual slide-rule tuning dial and signal strength meters. The central section comprises an amplifier and graphic equaliser with sliding controls for multi-band frequency adjustment, volume, and balance. The lower portion contains a double cassette deck, with Tape 1 designated for playback and Tape 2 for recording and playback, featuring a high-speed dubbing system (HDS) and automatic relay play (ARS). The front panel includes three 3.5mm jacks for headphones and microphones. The manufacturer’s name ‘Schneider’ is printed in gold on the turntable lid and the right speaker frame. The amplifier is marked ‘MIDI AV 1500 AUDIO VISUAL COMPACT STEREO SOUND SYSTEM’.
