Lot 478: A Large Collection of Compact Discs Including Jazz, Classic Rock, and Blues Titles
An assortment of approximately 150 to 200 compact discs housed in two black plastic drawer storage units and two cardboard boxes. The collection covers diverse genres with a notable focus on jazz, blues, and classic rock. The jazz section includes several Miles Davis titles on the Columbia/Legacy label such as Bitches Brew (C2K 65774), Kind of Blue (CK 64935), Sketches of Spain, In a Silent Way, Filles de Kilimanjaro, and Tutu. Other jazz artists represented include John Coltrane (Blue Train), Nina Simone (Gold), and Charles Mingus (Mingus Ah Um). The classic rock and progressive rock titles include Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (7243 582136 2 1), The Wall, and Wish You Were Here; The Kinks’ The Village Green Preservation Society (EGCD 102); and King Crimson’s In the Court of the Crimson King (0777 7 86485 2 9). The blues selection features artists such as B.B. King (Blues on the Bayou), Son House (A Proper Introduction to Son House), and Lightnin’ Hopkins. Contemporary pop and folk-rock are represented by Robbie Williams, Michael Buble, Sandy Denny, and Fairport Convention. The collection primarily features UK and European editions on labels such as Columbia/Legacy, Blue Note, Island, EMI, Atlantic, Arista, and Naxos. A white adhesive label with a handwritten red numeral 7 is applied to one cardboard box lid (photo 1). A red octagonal adhesive retail label on one black drawer unit reads 1/2 PRICE was £4.99 now £2.49 (photo 1).
