Lot 485: A Trio of Glazed Ceramic Decorative Citrus Fruit Displays
This lot comprises three separate glazed ceramic decorative arrangements of citrus fruit. The first piece features a white ceramic woven lattice-pattern basket containing five textured oranges, finished in a bright orange high-gloss glaze. The oranges are accented with green glazed leaves showing moulded veining and small white blossoms with yellow centres. The second piece is a freestanding pyramidal cluster of six lemons, glazed in a vibrant yellow with light green shading towards the points, accented by three white daisy-like blossoms. The third piece consists of a shallow circular white glazed bowl containing three lemons, a single green leaf, and one white blossom. The modelling and glaze style are characteristic of mid-20th-century decorative maiolica. No maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps are visible on any of the three components.
