Lot 499: Two Ceramic Items comprising a French Porcelain Tray and a BHS Priory Tableware Biscuit Barrel
This lot consists of two ceramic pieces: a French porcelain serving tray and a British biscuit barrel. The French porcelain tray is rectangular in form with a lobed and scalloped rim. It is decorated with a polychrome transfer-printed pastoral scene depicting a man and a woman in eighteenth-century style dress. The name Watteau is printed in the lower right corner of the scene. The rim is embellished with a wide, intricate gilded border featuring floral and filigree patterns. The base is marked with printed gold uppercase letters reading VÉRITABLE, PORCELAINE, and FRANCE. The BHS biscuit barrel is a cylindrical earthenware jar with a matching lid topped with a knob handle. It is decorated with transfer-printed floral sprays in shades of blue, purple, and green. The word Biscuits is printed vertically in a dark blue serif font. The base features a circular blue stamp containing the letters BHS and the words Priory Tableware. The text FREEZER PROOF, MICROWAVE AND OVEN SAFE is printed around the inner edge, with Made in Britain at the bottom.
