Lot 519: An Early 20th Century Wellington China Bone China Tea Service
An early 20th century Wellington China bone china tea service, comprising six tea cups, ten saucers and side plates, and a small open bowl. Each piece is constructed from white bone china featuring a fluted, relief-moulded body and scalloped rims finished with gold-tone gilding. The decoration consists of a border pattern featuring pink rose swags and green leaves, interconnected by black scrolled and dotted lines. The base of the pieces bears a printed black backstamp featuring a central graphic representation of a crown, with the text WELLINGTON CHINA in a top arc, J.H.C. & CO positioned below the crown, and LONGTON ENGLAND in a bottom arc. The pattern number 4899 is printed to the right of the crown, and a small hand-painted green mark is visible at the bottom centre.
