Lot 538: Two English Ceramic Post Box Still Banks including a Beswick Example
An English glazed ceramic cylindrical still bank in the form of a pillar box, finished in a dark green glaze with the words POST OFFICE appearing in gilded relief. The base of this cylindrical bank features an impressed mark consisting of the characters BESWICK and ENGLAND. The lot also includes a matching green glazed ceramic still bank of hexagonal form with a domed cap and embossed POST OFFICE lettering. The base of the hexagonal bank is unmarked. Both items function as still banks with a coin slot located near the top and are fitted with removable black rubber stoppers at the base for coin retrieval.
