Lot 577: A Cast Brass Tavern Tankard
A cast brass tankard of tapering cylindrical form. The exterior is decorated with three raised horizontal bands and terminates in a flared, stepped foot. The vessel is fitted with a substantial S-scroll handle featuring a rounded thumb rest and a spurred terminal at the lower junction. The metal surfaces display a coarse, pitted texture characteristic of the casting process and exhibit a dark naturally aged patina. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible on the interior or exterior of the piece.
