Lot 659: A trio of ceramic items comprising two Parian ware pieces and a polychrome glazed porcelain figure
This collection consists of three ceramic items. The first is a large standing figure of a woman in classical drapery, modelled with one arm raised and the other grasping her garments. The figure is made from Parian ware, an unglazed matte bisque porcelain, and is presented on a circular tiered pedestal base. It is a hollow-cast piece, as visible in the photograph of the interior base. The second item is a circular Parian ware lidded box featuring dense relief-moulded decoration of scrollwork and foliate motifs across the body and lid. The lid is surmounted by a small decorative finial. The base of the box features an impressed circular mark containing a crown motif at the top, though the characters within the circular border are not legible as a specific name. The third item is a small glazed and polychrome painted porcelain figure of a young boy dressed in 18th-century style attire, including a patterned waistcoat and breeches. He is depicted carrying a large basket filled with flowers or fruit on his head and stands on a base moulded with grass and floral details. No maker marks are visible on the classical figure or the boy figure.
